What I got at the Op Shop Today - March #2

Quick trip out today as we needed to get a couple of eggs for Op Shop Jnr.

I managed to drop off about six bags of clothes, cookbooks, shoes, crockery at my local Salvos in Chelsea Heights and was given a 15 minute limit.  It's a huge well stocked store so there was no chance I could keep to it, I managed 30 minutes and even then felt I'd missed most of it!

Op Shop Baby scored a pair of new Angry Birds prewalker shoes picked by his bigger brother!

This is what happens when bigger brothers choose your clothes!

Mr Op Shop actually chose something, this is quite rare as he tends to get a lot of clothes at cost from the sports company he works at.  It's a Diff'rent Strokes t-shirt with "what you talkin bout willis" on the back.  I don't really remember the series either, he has got a number of years on me though... well 3.

This bring back any memories?

Finally Op Shop Jnr got some shoes also, one size too big but they will keep.

I bet these will see some running, climbing, falling action!
How have your op shop trips gone?  Feel free to post any links if you blog about op shopping too, I always like to share some on the Facebook page.

Happy Easter all

Op Shop Baby as the Easter Bunny, another one he can blame his big brother on!

How ugly is my clock?

Okay this is one purchase made a few months ago I didn't know if I would share or not..... I'm ashamed to admit it but I'm a little embarrassed about my clock, I think.

I saw it in a pile of household odds and ends, picked it up, walked away without it thinking "Man that is one ugly clock".  I then carried on browsing around the Keysborough Salvos and my mind kept going back to the ugly clock, I was thinking "I bet it doesn't even work"  I went back to have a look at the battery piece and it looked okay.  I then walked away leaving it again.

"Screw it, I want that ugly clock" I went back when someone else was browsing and heading towards it.

It set me back $3.

It has Hislon Quartz on it, I have found out that Hislon is a well known watch company but I can't work out if this is a genuine vintage clock or some strange knock off.

Can anyone help with any more information or background?

I figured I'd hang it and see if it grew on me, it has.
It's quite heavy and appears to be anodised metal which I love.  Here's a few more examples of vintage anodised household items which I'm looking out for.

vintage canisters seen on Totally Second Hand blog
Cup set with table from Kittys Vintage Kitsch
Vintage Anodised Champagne Flutes on Cool for Cats

Okay now be honest, I can take it on a scale of 1-10 ..... how ugly is my clock?

I'm linking up with Treasure Hunt Thursday also on this one for some additional opinions.

What I got at the Op Shop Today - March

It's been a real effort getting to the op shops the past few weeks but things are settling back into a routine since the arrival of Op Shop Baby in February.

I had a rare morning with just the two of us as Op Shop Jnr who turns four soon was otherwise engaged.

My poor little man had his six week jabs so I had no idea how he would take it, it turns out he slept and slept and slept waking just every two hours or so to fill his big belly.

I decided as I didn't have long to treat myself to a couple of hours browsing and here is what I got, really trying to make an effort not to clutter up our house as space is limited.

I did a display of huge rings, I'm guessing a donation from the same person, this was one of the smaller ones.

Silver over sized ring
This is also the number of uninterrupted hours of sleep I got last night, this was good!  The night before I was up at 1am, 3am, 5am & 7am.  This may explain my lack of enthusiasm to do much more than dress, cook and wash with two small children, it passes though.

Most pricey buy of the day at $5

I have also just had a big clear out of clothes, some I haven't worn since arriving in Australia from the UK over five years ago.  It felt good.  I looked for some clothes but only bought a dress for my friends daughter.

Op shop baby got a couple of hats.

One summer one winter 50c each
This also caught my eye, it's not collectible or rare I just love the colour and the image, I'll hang it up as it makes me feel good when ever I see it.  The range is called Childhood Memories by Maxwell & Williams

I love the mint colouring

Boxed and happy at $2
Hoping to actually get to an op shop or two tomorrow as it's Easter Holidays soon and I have yet another morning with just me and bubs.

Hope you're all enjoying the joys of op shopping too.
